Pūrṇimā // The full moon today reaches its zenith in the constellation of Ārdrā आर्द्रा (sidereal Gemini), the Star of Sorrow. We’re feeling the pressure and unraveling of the collective moving through us. Symbolized by a tear drop, this constellation triggers the perfect storm. As much as it appears to be destructive, it holds the potential for evolutionary growth through initiating significant change.
Many of us feel as if we’re on the verge of a big breakthrough and are passionate about the idea of change. As much as this change is at our fingertips, consider that things are developing at their own pace, and there’s no need to force or rush the process—wait until things settle in mid-January.
Uncertainty abounds; business is up in the air, and you may be second-guessing decisions and finding it hard to commit as retrograde Mercury dances over the Gaṇḍānta point (karmic knot) between water and fire (Scorpio/Sagittarius) through January 7th. This transit has a flavor of instability and karmic pressure. Stay patient a little longer, allow yourself to be surprised by nature's timeline, and you'll be delightedly satisfied with the results.
Pay attention to the fine print and maintain a broad perspective as you strike a fine balance between being determined and surrendering to the flow. Ārdrā nakshatra is ruled by Rudra, the fierce form of Śiva, and is known for evoking pressure intended to forge one into who they’re truly meant to be. This pressure tends to liberate us from the weight of our past through stormy events. Know that these storms are usually short-lived and don’t endure for long. Whatever is emerging now undergoes purification, cleansing your path for a fresh start—refrain from clinging to outdated storylines and resist the urge to touch whatever is coming up.
The more you can cultivate patience and a sense of being a witness to it all, the greater capacity you have to sail through these storms with ease and be rewarded with the renewal and fresh start that comes after the storm. Just like a diamond in the rough, we're forged through the storms of transformation to distill and extract the wisdom needed to authentically engage with what is and what is to become.
Remember to leave time for play and to steep in the practices that ground you and cultivate your capacity to rest in the quiet, silent awareness of your own being.
